From the Dominican Republic to Barcelona to Antwerp

Hi, I'm Ana Lucía Rodriguez

and my journey in education started long before I earned my degrees. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, where I completed my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. Later, I moved to Barcelona to pursue a Master's in Support for Educational and Social Inclusion — a time that shaped my view of learning as something that belongs to everyone.

My passion for education began when I was very young and has only deepened over the years. Working for four years as a teacher at PrimiPassi, a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool in the Dominican Republic, completely transformed the way I see children and teaching. I moved away from traditional methods and began to truly listen — to the child’s voice, curiosity, and rhythm. I learned to see each child as competent, creative, and full of potential.

During that same period, I began exploring mindfulness. I started meditating, practicing yoga, and noticing how these tools helped me show up more fully — for myself and for the children in my care. The shift was so powerful that I felt called to bring mindfulness to children, too — not as something to add to the curriculum, but as a way of being.

In 2018, I moved to Antwerp, Belgium. Inspired by new surroundings and meaningful encounters, I launched my own mindfulness after-school program for children — a space where education and wellbeing go hand in hand. Through everything I do, I carry a deep respect for childhood. My work is rooted in presence, play, and connection — because I believe that’s where real growth happens.

Ana is a very compassionate, kind and also firm when necessary with Dexter. Ana is constantly making the adjustments needed to keep Dexter engaged in the mindfulness activities - which isn't always a smooth flow. We always find Dexter in a calmer space after time with Ans Lucia. I have not encountered anyone else who offers the experience Ana Lucia does and I do hope more people can receive the gift we are.
